Ebay Training
and Consulting

with Tracy Marks

My name is Tracy Marks (torreyphilemon at Ebay), and I have created this web site to share the joys and profits of selling at the world's largest online auction marketplace, Ebay.

As an Ebay powerseller until summer 2006, with 99.9% positive feedback and sales of over 6000 items on Ebay since March 1999, I specialize in selling quality books, videos, dvds and my own figure skating photography. My motivation has been to to collect and sell what I love, and to have satisfying transactions with new and repeat customers, as well as to let go of possessions and supplement my income.

Since 2000, I have been been teaching and consulting about Ebay, students learn to sell on Ebay and gain confidence, satisfaction and profit from Ebay transactions and customer relations. Having participated for years in online support groups for Ebay sellers, and having read extensively about successful Ebay selling, I continue to expand my understanding in order to help clients and students with their Ebay issues.

As of 2006, I am an Ebay Education Specialist, recommended by Ebay for seller training. I also sell books as user name tmarat Amazon Marketplace and teach people how to sell on Amazon. (More)

Ebay Continuing Education Workshops
I also offer six and nine-hour introductory How to Buy and Sell on Ebay courses at Newton Community Education, Lexington Minuteman Community Education and Lexington Community Education in the Boston area. Contact these schools for further information. These courses introduce students to buying as well as selling, and are oriented to students with no or little prior experience with Ebay. They do not involve the official Ebay curriculum or manuals, although handouts are provided. My class description follows:

In this hands-on course taught by an Ebay powerseller, we will learn how to successfully buy and sell at Ebay. Buying tips will include searching for items, researching market prices, issues of safety and security, and bidding. Seller tips will cover creating and submitting listings, using photos, timing, auction management, financial transactions, shipping, feedback and handling nonresponsive buyers. An important focus will be participating in the self-policing feedback community-building system of Ebay.

Ebay Consulting
Worldwide by Telephone, Email or Online Chat

If you wish to sell on Ebay, or have taken a basic Ebay course and need help starting or troubleshooting your Ebay auctions, consider booking Ebay consultations with me in person, by phone, or online by email or chat. Fee for in-person or telephone consultations is $70/hour.

Consultations will be geared to your individual needs, and include free copies of my Ebay training materials. Clients may also purchase "consulting packages" entitling them to a specific number of questions answered via email or telephone.

Some of the issues which Ebay clients tend to raise in consultations include how to: write effective item descriptions, fix up and post images, research an item and determine offering price, organize and manage all steps of an auction, handle difficult customer relations and resolve problems with customers, learn to use Ebay software such as Turbolister, respond to or remove negative feedback, conduct international sales, deal with shipping and payment issues, change Ebay account information, use Ebay's help system, contact Ebay directly, understand and handle tax issues, and remain safe and secure in Ebay transactions.

If you have questions about consulting or wish to make an appointment, email me, and I will reply as quickly as possible.

How to Sell on Ebay Manuals
I am in the process of preparing a new manual for beginning Ebay sellers which will be for sale by fall 2006. My "part two" manual of use to sellers who have already started selling on Ebay, is already available by mail or as a Microsoft Word download; the cost is $8. The Table of Contents and ordering information will soon be available here. See this page for new offerings including Ebay software on cdrom and Ebay book recommendations.

More about Me
I received my M.A. in Education from Tufts University in 1974, and have been teaching adults ever since. Since 1995, I have been offering courses in Windows, Adobe Photoshop, Powerpoint, Internet skills, web design, and Ebay selling (see course list).

My 32 years of work experience include: writing and publication of four self-help books and a dozen manuals, professional photography sales, and (as a licensed psychotherapist) a part-time counseling practice.

Having overcome my own technophobia, my skills now include working patiently with technophobic and non-technically minded individuals, and translating complex concepts and techniques into understandable language.

I am well-informed, conscientious, organized, and supportive, committed to helping people gain the skills and understanding they need to better their lives, and to experience successful Ebay buying and selling. And last but not least, I love what I do and hope to inspire you to greater confidence, life enjoyment and prosperity!
